Tuesday nights I have an evening class scheduled from 5:30-10:00pm. Generally, it's a excessively boring class, but the professor is nice and lets us out fairly early (about 9pm most nights). I tend to get there about 30 minutes early because I have to ride the bus into Spokane, and well, that's when the bus gets there. It's usually not a big deal, I just read a book and overhear everyone's lame excuse for why they don't have their paper ready as they frantically try and talk to the Prof before class starts.
Tonight, however, I was especially amused. As it is Greek Week, and the majority of the Greek population forgets that us G.D.I.'s really could care less about it, a few sorority girls sauntered in and proceeded to "inform" the professor of the importance of their presence at a Greek Week event. The conversation that follows is verbatim.
Sorority Girl [dressed in all her sorority gear]: Hi Professor _____.
Professor: Hi
Sorority Girl: So [insert name of sorority sister/classmate that is also decked out] and I have somewhere to be tonight.
Professor: Oh really?
Sorority Girl: Yeah, it's Greek Week. [Emphasis on the all-important event]
Professor: Ok.
Sorority Girl: Yeah, it starts at 7pm and we really want to get out of here as soon as possible, so like, the sooner you let me and her leave- the better.
Professor: I'll keep that in mind.
Sorority Girl: Great, thanks [said in complete oblivion to the ridiculous nature of her request].
And this, my friends, is a true story.
