I've had something weighing on my heart for the last 5-ish months or so. You know that feeling back in school when you knew you had loads of homework to accomplish, but you still found yourself enjoying a night of reality t.v.? And despite the fact that the reality t.v. was so fulfilling (ha!), you couldn't quite get rid of the nagging feeling that you still had that homework sitting in the other room and at some point you were going to have to face it? You know... so even though you were "having fun" you felt like you were only operating at the 75% fun level because you couldn't completely have a grand old time knowing that what you should be doing didn't include "you" and "fun" being in the same sentence?
Okay, so I've had that feeling for about 5 months now. And now that feeling is gone. And, let me tell you- everything is so much better. Sometimes you forget how much stress can eat you alive and affect even the most tiniest of details in your day, until you don't have that stress and worry weighing over you anymore. There is something so freeing about leaving the office at 5pm and knowing you can enjoy the rest of the night without worry. Case in point, I am watching a "Jon and Kate + 8" Mini- marathon right now while eating baked brie. Yes, and this was after sitting around for twenty minutes debating whether I wanted to watch those adorable children or my new Twilight movie I picked up from Target on the way home.
And so while those who know me well know that I constantly battle feelings of worry and guilt, tonight is not about that. Tonight I will toast to myself and all that I've accomplished and not feel the least bit guilty or worrisome. Tonight, I will operate on the 100% fun level... and enjoy every moment.
