Obamarama

I generally keep my ideas about politics to myself. At most, people know I'm a conservative, and the majority of people I know would likely argue I don't follow it or could categorize me as an apathetic. In actuality, I'm extremely politically aware- donating money to campagins I care about, reading articles daily, checking political websites several times a day, and nearly always catching a little Fox news. I have strong opinions, but I don't feel the need to shove them down other people's throats. I'm open-minded, and will always listen to others thoughts on issues, but there are some issues I feel so strongly about I highly doubt I will ever change my mind.

This election season, Obamarama has swept the nation, and I feel like I'm going to school with a bunch of Obamacrats. Okay, so I highly disagree with about 95% of his platforms, which make me a little biased, but I think what upsets me the most is I feel Obama doesn't have much substance. I feel my peers are being caught up in his engaging rhetoric and charisma, all without fully realizing that while "Yes We Can" change, he has yet to explain exactly how he plans on accomplishing it. I don't like Hillary either, but at least I feel she has experience and the potential to lead the World's Greatest Nation for four years. Obama has only served as a Senator for four years, and not a great one at that (check out THIS NY Post article!). Obama has shied away from taking a real stance on any issue on Capitol Hill during his term in an effort to avoid controversy. Senator Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, was even quoted as saying,

"He folded like a cheap suit. What it showed me is you are not an agent of change. Because to really change things in this place you have to get beat up every now and then."

Thank You! President of the United States is arguably the most powerful position in the WORLD, people. Shouldn't we expect our leader to say, have a little experience and perhaps a backbone? If Obama is elected than I can only conclude that our election process is little more than a popularity contest, and what a sad realization that will be on Inauguration Day 2009. I can only hope that people will look past the speeches, books, and Oprah, and maybe take a deep hard look at Obama. If what you see is a man who is fully capable of running the greatest country on the planet, then by all means, more power to you. But if you are like me, and see only man who uses flowerly language and no substance to persuade others... be very afraid for our nation's future, and start praying.

On a lighter note, even SNL recognized this Obama obsession and chose to spoof it last week. Some political analysts are even theorizing this skit swung the election in favor of Hillary when she won a couple states that following Tuesday, breaking Obama's month long victory sweep. Noticeably, several news sources have broken negative press about Obama this week as well. It is a little discouraging to think that a show like SNL has the potential to swing the election, but hey- whatever works.

Thanks for reading... sorry if I upset anyone, but since this blog is about me- I thought it was about time I shared something that's been bothering me for quite some time.

Preach on! The worst thing about the Obama fever and the liberal fever in general is that it is being fueled by young voters. Why on earth would young voters who are healthy and don't require a lot of medical costs and won't get any social security, if things keep going the way they are going, want to vote for a party who will not fix social security and will raise taxes on the young workers to pay for the large baby boomer population's expensive medical bills. Try and explain that one to me. Vote McCain!
